Moved by the events of the European Refugee Crisis in 2015, this sculpture references the extendable table as a symbol of welcome. The extension leaf depicts a scene of refugees carrying their belongings, an image frequently used in media coverage. The other two halves of the table show ancient Syrian artifacts and treasures currently housed in Western collections.
